Let's Talk Comfort - Lovesac Sactional Review
Sofa shopping has to be the best and worst shopping experience, all wrapped up into one. You go to a showroom and under showroom lights, you pick out what you think will work best for your home. Hopefully, you have measurements, so you don’t get caught up trying to make it fit when you get home.
That was PRE COVID-19. Our sofa was on its last leg, a year ago my husband hammered a 2x4 on the inside to make it last. We bought it from Ikea, and we loved that sofa. It was close to seven years old, and it had lived a long, fulfilled life. When our couch broke, I started searching, but I didn’t want to jump the gun. I knew I wanted to spend some money on it, and it would be an investment. We are in our late 30’s after all, and with kids, we needed something that would be durable.
The first sofa I came across was Lovesac, and I looked at the price and was like NOPE, plus I was not too fond of the name of the company. They call their sectional sofas SACtionals…PASS. After a year of searching, I thought I narrowed it down to Joybird as a company, but I couldn’t pull the trigger. We even went to a few showrooms of a different company and fell in love with other sofas, but the sales price didn’t last long, so we were back to square one. Finally, when I decided to order from Joybird COVID-19 happened, and our sofa was hanging on by a thread.
All the ones I fell in love with were out of stock, or they couldn’t deliver until mid-JUNE. So I did more research and got over the name of Lovesac and looked at the brand. It had everything I was looking for:
1) Modular
I am always in the mood to change my decor at home, and It was driving me nuts that we only had a right size chaise, and I couldn’t change it. Well with Lovesac you can design your sofa in any way you want. The limit is your imagination. I was sold when I saw that if you had four backs and four seats that you can turn it into a queen-size bed. When we can have family over again, that will be amazing! We can still have enough sofa for everyone but can move pieces into another room and make a bed for our guests.
2) Machine Washable.
With kids, this is SOOOOOO important. We had the Ikea sofa and that was dry clean only(I just washed on delicate but my covers did shrink a little) with Lovesac you can just throw them in the wash and you can’t beat that.
3) Lifetime Warranty
Now, this was awesome. The lifetime is for all the hardware, The inside of the cousins depends on which type you get. We ended up going with the Lovesoft and that has a five-year warranty on it.
These THREE things were top of my list when looking for a sofa. Now, these may be CONS for some people but wasn’t a big deal for us.
1) YOU have to assemble.
All of our sofas have been from Ikea since we got married, so a little self-assembly didn’t scare us. With COVID-19 we did make sure to spray down the boxes that were delivered with disinfectant. We ordered the 10 sides and 8 seat option. With covers, we had TWENTY FOUR boxes in total. The shipping was pretty fast as well; we received it a little over a week from when we ordered. It took us about 4 hours to assemble, but we had kids and a dog running around. It’s best to work in sections and break down the boxes and have everything lines up. That made it go pretty fast.
2.) The Covers Shift
So if you are one who needs everything to line up then this is not the sofa for you. The seams will move because they are covers and you do have to fluff pillows and that can be a detour for some people. For us wasn’t a big deal and we have had the sofa for a month and we haven’t had any issues.
3) Price
Not going to lie, this was an investment, but you don’t need to buy the size we did. What I realized after having sticker shock, is that the sofa is where we spend a lot of time. We play games, hang out, watch TV, cuddle, etc. The living room and kitchen are the two places we assemble the most when we have friends over. When I divided the amount over 7 years(how long we had out the last sofa), it was worth the investment for our family.
4) Online Ordering
Now I received an email that Lovesac showrooms are starting to open, but for us, it wasn’t a big deal to order because we get a 60-day trial period. So if it didn’t work out, then we could send it all back if needed. That gave us the confidence to order without sitting on it first.
Overall I am so happy with our purchase. We can move our sofa to create a fantastic movie night at home, and We have a deep corner that we all cuddle in, and if we want we can change it any time we want. The sofa fits the needs of our family.
