Tech Talk: 4 Ways To Take Great Pictures Of Your Kids
We live in a time where we have a camera on us at all times. Whether its a phone, point & shoot or DSLR you can follow simple steps to make sure you get the shot each time. When it comes to capturing our children, it can be overwhelming at times. They love to be on the move, and sometimes you can’t get them to look straight into the camera. Does this mean you are doomed and won’t be able to get great pics? NOT AT ALL. today I’ll be sharing four tips to help you get some of the best pictures of your little ones.
Lighting is key
When taking pics of anyone especially a rambunctious child make sure your light source is in front of your kid for a great shot. Unless you are aiming for a silhouette look, then the light source should be in front. If you’re looking for a clear picture then always, always know where your light is, and it should be in front of your subject. So the window or sun should be behind you the photographer and subject.
Never stop taking pictures.
All too often we have this idea that a picture should be the child looking directly at the camera and smiling. Well, they get frustrated very easily and doing that, so will you. Let them play naturally and just keep taking pics. You are going to get a great shot I guarantee. I love candid shots, those are the ones that really show the personality of your child, and you can cherish it forever.
Be creative
Sometimes it can be as simple as grabbing some lights, a sheet, bubbles, paint, etc and have a fun photo shoot. The more creative, the better the pictures will be. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box or even get a little messy.
Have fun
Having fun is the most crucial step. Don’t get swept up in having the perfect picture, relax, relate, release. Kids will be kids. They will make silly faces, they will show their personality, and THOSE are the pictures you will enjoy looking at when they get older. There is beauty in imperfection so get outside with your DSLR or smartphone and take pictures. Don’t forget to get in a few as well and print some off too :)
