DIY Fruit and Veggie Cleaner

Have you ever picked up an apple from the grocery store and wonder what that waxy feeling is? I know I did when I was younger and that is when I was told its a MUST to wash all of our fruits and veggies before we eat them. Living in an age now when Romaine lettuce can kill you. Did you know that 9 million people get ill each year from contaminated food, 46% of those cases are from fruits and vegetables.  I can see why it was something that I was taught to do at a young age. There are different items on the market you can buy to wash your produce but I like to make my own because then I know exactly what is in the cleanser and I can save money by making it myself. This is such a simple solution using essential oils, water, and vinegar.

Citrus Oils are the best to use when disinfecting and cleaning. Lemon oil is a mild astringent and can kill bacteria. Wild orange is another great citrus oil to use in your produce cleaning spray. Both of these oils are inexpensive.  There are a few places that you can purchase your EO from. Just make sure they are pure oils. I order from doterra but two other places that you can order from as well that are great. Two places I like are Plant Therapy and Edens Garden.

When you are making your own solution you also want to make sure you are using a glass bottle since you will have essential oils in the mixture. I purchased mine here.
