We Need To STOP With The Fake Health Concern For Fat People

Recently there was an article written about a young man who had gone blind because of his diet choices. He ate selective foods which were lacking in the much-needed vitamins to sustain a healthy lifestyle. His doctors were unaware and have been quoted as saying “Height and weight were average, and body mass index was normal“ So in the eye of the doctor everything was standard and okay.

There probably weren’t hoards of people on his IG page under his pictures touting concern for his weight, saying they didn’t think he was a good size etc. The fact is that when it comes to fat people, there is so much “concern” about our health. The truth is, you can’t tell how healthy a person is by looks. I think everyone should be active and everyone should get daily exercise, but the fact of the matter is, No one is telling anyone with the “ideal” BMI that they need to exercise and get healthy.

If you took the time to focus on your own happiness there would be no need to try and call out a stranger on the internet because you feel they need to live life the way YOU think they should.

When most people see fat bodies, they judge. I will never forget when I was pregnant, and I DID NOT have high blood pressure or blood sugar; one of the doctors in the practice seemed AMAZED and had them test me again. I get it; we are conditioned to see fat as disgusting and something you should never aim to be. But guess what, life is not perfect and there are MANY factors to why someone is fat. Talking under a strangers picture when they are just enjoying their life is not motivating ANYONE. It seems to me that people are more upset that a fat person DARES to be happy about the place they are in their life. Just look at Lizzo as an example. She is living her best life, and people still try to diminish her talent and show "concern" about her weight, saying she is glorifying obesity. I don’t remember ever seeing articles or people concerned about Notorious B.I.G, Big Pun, Heavy D, The Fat Boys etc they were all known for their music.

Living my BEST Fat Life

Body positivity to me is loving your body no matter what stage you are in. That means dressing for whatever size you are and looking CUTE in the process. You don’t have to be a smaller size to enjoy life. What kind of life is that if you are telling yourself that you will be able to enjoy life and have a smile on your face when you are a certain weight. All body journeys are valid., I support the thin person trying to put on a little weight, the plus-size person who wants to lose a little, the plus size person who is active but staying the same weight, the person going through some things and their weight fluctuates. I repeat, ALL BODY JOURNEYS ARE VALID.

Truth is, the average size for American women is 16-18. Yet we are inundated with smaller figures in media and print. The world we live in is not reflected in many things that our eyes consume.

There is no need for this facade of concern when it comes to fat people. We need to STOP with that fake concern for fat people. If you took the time to focus on your own happiness there would be no need to try and call out a stranger on the internet because you feel they need to live life the way YOU think they should.

I just need everyone out there to…
