2020 Ain't PLAYING With Us

Hello Dear Readers. I have NOT been on top of my writing this year. I haven’t felt that creative. Not only has it been a LOOOONG year (yes, I am aware that we are only THREE months into this year), I have to say I am proud of all of you who are reading. I know this year is kicking our behind. But guess what you have made it through 100% of the bad days, and that is something to celebrate.

Now, as for me and my household, we have had a few losses. My MIL passed in January and even though we knew her health was declining, it was still a shock. I am so glad we were able to spend time with her and the family last November. Then in February one of mu cousins passed away suddenly. That was followed by family drama where it was very hard to grieve. Ya girl was in her feelings and just not like herself. On the real I hadn’t picked up a camera since November. My mind was being creative but the follow-through just wasn’t there. I begin to feel like eh whats the point?

I have been genuinely grateful for switching my therapist in September, and that has saved my sanity through the end of last year and in the current 1st quarter of the year. A few weeks ago, my homework assignment was to take one picture a day of something that I was thankful for or that I enjoyed. It seems so simple. But when you have been out of practice sometimes, you need that little push of someone telling you what to do and holding you accountable. So day 1, I started small and took some pictures of my daughter and dog in our backyard. That simple act let my creative juices flow, and I started thinking of photoshoots I could set up, nothing too extravagant but something that I could be proud of and show of my skills as a photographer. I LOVED every moment of it. I plan on even recording some videos soon so that I can make my way back to Youtube. Let's face it, with all these places shutting down(school, Disney, cruises, etc) you are going to need some content to watch.

2020 has been very trying, but at the same time, I can feel it pushing me to do things outside of my comfort zone, which is both scary and exciting. Thank you all for being so patient with me, and I hope you all stay safe.
